Travelers to Iceland hoping to spot the Northern Lights from a warm spot can now rent custom yellow teardrop trailers with a transparent ceiling for taking in the views.
Reykjavík-based Mink Campers are equipped with central heating and are sturdy enough for tackling the country’s rugged terrain. There’s also WiFi, a sound system and a kitchen. The interior has a queen-sized bed with room for two adults and an optional bunk bed for a child.
Iceland’s small size makes it ideal for road tripping. The island’s famous loop route, Ring Road, is 830 miles encircling the country. Many travelers spend a week on the route with room for detours.
Mink Campers are rented without a car, so travelers have to factor in that rental as well. But the camper makes a great solution for visiting sparsely inhabited areas where there’s no other lodging available.
