Tips / Destination

Look out, Paris and New York: Japan gives these top food cities a run for their money.

One of the most prestigious collections of restaurant rankings in the world released its top 1,000 restaurants of 2017. La Liste named its best restaurant as Guy Savoy in Paris, which now holds the top spot for two years in a row. The famous restaurant also has Michelin stars to its credit.

But it is Japan that has the most entries on the list, with an astounding 116 featured in the top 1,000. France follows with 113 and China has 100.

Italy, another leading destination for foodies, was best among value restaurants, and this year there were new entries from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bermuda and Liechtenstein. Australia also made a strong showing with 27 entries.

La Liste prides itself on transparency. Its process involves compiling reviews from around 400 publications, which it then converts into a standard grade. It surveys thousands of chefs on the trustworthiness of the publications, and customers can go online to add to the mix.

The list also includes an unranked collection of 10,000 affordable dining options around the world in 135 countries.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
