The days of paying for expensive WiFi on the plane or in hotel rooms when you travel are almost gone thanks to devices like Karma Go. This nifty little gadget allows you to turn a cellular connection into a personal WiFi signal, essentially giving you internet wherever you go.

It’s small enough to fit in your pocket and powerful enough to connect devices from up to 100 feet away. Karma Go works by converting an LTE connection into a personal WiFi signal using your phone’s 4G LTE network. If that fails, it falls back to a CDMA signal through Sprint. Karma claims you’ll receive download speeds average between 6 and 8Mbps with peaks reaching up to 25Mbps. Upload speeds average between 2 and 3 Mpbs.

It can connect to your laptop tablet or phone and supports up to eight connections simultaneously. Karma Go’s battery life is approximately six hours, which is enough to last through most flights in the continental United States. Right now coverage extends to more than 460 cities in the United States, but not overseas at this time.

Of course, to make it work you’ll have to buy a monthly subscription or pay as you go with the lowest subscription being $40/month for 5GB. The Karma Go itself retails for $149. For more information check out Karma’s website.
