Land-based poker has returned to Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. The Poker Room reopened Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m., with 30 socially distanced tables. All play will be live cash games on seven-handed tables with polycarbonate barriers. Hand-sanitizing dispensers will be accessible throughout The Poker Room, with frequent disinfecting of high-touch points. Masks are required in all public areas and no spectators will be allowed in The Poker Room.

“We are happy to welcome back our loyal players as we reopen Atlantic City’s market-leading East Coast poker destination,” said Melonie Johnson, president and chief operating officer, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. “We have made some changes to enhance our guest’s experience and are excited to reintroduce live poker and the Borgata poker brand more safely.”

Borgata, an MGM Resorts International luxury resort and casino, implemented MGM Resorts’ Seven-Point Safety Plan earlier this year. The plan’s key initiatives include employee screening, temperature checks and COVID-19-specific training. Masks are required and provided free of charge for guests and employees. Limited entrance points include guest screening and temperature checks, and there is a physical-distancing policy with floor guides.

In areas where social distancing is challenging, like at the poker table, polycarbonate barriers will be installed, and other measures implemented to reduce risk. Standalone handwashing stations are located on the casino floor, with electrostatic sprayers used in public spaces to apply disinfectant efficiently. Guestroom attendants wear masks and gloves while cleaning.

Borgata’s Bad Beat Jackpot will immediately initiate, allowing guests who lose a hand of poker the opportunity to still win a prize of $100,000.
