Lao Airlines

During my backpacking trip of Southeast Asia, I’d reached a point where the idea of spending another night on an overnight bus seemed like a nightmare. Though more expensive, I opted for a Lao Airlines flight from Luang Prabang to Vientiane instead.

The airport at Luang Prabang was a tad confusing and I ended up in the international terminal rather than the smaller, somewhat hidden domestic terminal at first. The employees spoke English well, so they were able to direct me to the right place.

The check-in process was quick and easy to understand. Once onboard, the flight attendants were some of the friendliest I’ve come across in my years of travel. There wasn’t much in the way of food offerings, but we did get a free water and snack. That’s more than some expensive American airlines offer.

The pilot relayed instructions in both Lao and English, so I knew what was happening at all times. The flight was steady and quick and I had an overall pleasant experience. The only slight complaint I had was my seat was broken and wouldn’t move into the upright position. The lady behind me copped an attitude because I was leaning back the whole flight, but there was nothing anyone could do about it at the time.

If I ever find myself back in Laos again I would certainly book a flight on Lao Airlines and recommend it to a friend.
