Tips / Travel

Owning a pet doesn’t mean forgoing traveling the world. It does mean you might have to get a little crafty about what to do with Fido when you hit the road. Unfortunately, taking your pet with you isn’t always practical, so you need to find a reliable place to leave him when you go.

With Family

Your family should be your first option when looking for a temporary home. They’re stuck with you for life, so chances they’ll let your beloved pet suffer are slim.

With Friends

Friends are always a tricky option, because they aren’t always the most reliable when it comes to caring for our pets. They have lives and no real connection to your pet, so they might cut corners when it comes to care. Be sure you and your friend are right, and consider offering money to sweeten the deal.

Boarding Facility

Dog-boarding facilities can either be great or the stuff of nightmares. Many a dog (and cat) have come home with mysterious illnesses and battle scars. Be sure to inspect the facility before dropping your pet off.

The Vet

Some people don’t realize many veterinarians offer temporary boarding to clients. It’s a great place to leave your dog or cat because it ensures they’ll get the best possible care in an emergency. Check with your vet to see if they offer boarding, or can make a recommendation if not.
