Chicago is a top destination for LGBT visitors in the United States. The diverse city offers many gay-friendly events, restaurants, shopping and activities.

Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood is a hub for the local LGBT community as well as visitors. North Halsted Street boasts many popular restaurants, bars, shops and theaters. Try Taverna 750, The Chicago Diner or The Playground Theater. For great nightlife options, visit gay bar Sidetrack, Kit Kat Lounge & Supper Club for live drag shows or Roscoe’s Tavern for dancing and karaoke.

Boystown is also home to one of the Midwest’s largest LGBT support centers, Center on Halsted. The organization offers support networks, cultural events and programs meeting the needs of its more than 1,000 daily visitors.

Beyond Boystown, other popular LGBT-friendly Chicago neighborhoods include Uptown, Edgewater, Andersonville and Rogers Park. These diverse neighborhoods are home to independent shops, exciting theater and nightlife and quaint restaurants.

The 47th Annual Chicago Pride Parade will be held June 26. A variety of performances and activities take place during pride weekend. In addition to the annual Chicago Pride Parade, the city hosts numerous LGBT events throughout the year. Check out the calendar for a complete list of celebrations.
