Flagstaff boasts one of the most welcoming communities in Arizona. The city is just one hour south of Grand Canyon National Park, but holds its own as a must-see destination in the southwest. Beautiful scenery, epic outdoor adventures and a welcoming atmosphere make it perfect for a weekend getaway.

There’s no gay scene in Flagstaff, but there are plenty of places the LGBTQ+ community likes to hang out. The Hotel Monte Vista is a popular spot for the younger crowd and has a more eclectic following. The LGBTQ+-friendly hotel boasts two nightclubs, the Rendezvous Martini Bar and the sprawling Monte Vista Lounge. It’s a great spot to hear live music and enjoy a crowd. Macy’s European Coffeehouse is perfect for anyone seeking a more laidback vibe and some incredible espresso. It also hosts live music and art performances.

As a college town, you’ll find plenty of gay-friendly activities and events happening on campus all year-round. When you’re taking in the local scene, you can head outside city limits and experience some of the incredible outdoor recreation Flagstaff offers. The San Francisco Peaks, Meteor Crater and the Arizona Snowbowl ski resort are all nearby. The region is also famous for its extensive array of archaeological sites to explore.

While there might not be a huge LGBTQ+ crowd found in the nightlife, Flagstaff is an extremely diverse small city with lots to see and do — it’s a town that should be on every traveler’s bucket list.
