Livability compiled the data and the choice is clear — these are the top destinations for 2018. The brand’s data scientists studied all the right criteria, like entertainment, culture, green space, golf courses, ease of transportation, weather and crime.

“The 2018 Best Places to Visit list includes a really fun mix of famous vacation destinations and off-the-beaten-path gems for any travel style and budget,” said Winona Dimeo-Ediger, Livability.com. “Whether you’re looking for relaxation or adventure, these great cities will help you make the most of your vacation days.”

In 10th place is Scottsdale, Ariz., a sunny city with an average temperature of 72.5 degrees and 299 rain-free days per year. If you love golf, the area has more than 200 courses, and there are plenty of other places to hike, shop and enjoy the arts and nightlife.

Next up is Sammamish, a suburb of Seattle near Lake Sammamish, with lots of outdoor activities, craft beer and fun dining options.

At No. 8 is White Plains, N.Y., a family-friendly and affluent destination with a revitalized downtown brimming with shopping and dining options. Golf, cycling and entertainment are also plentiful.

Boca Raton, Fla., took spot No. 7, with its five miles of beaches, more than 40 parks and several golf courses. Family-friendly activities such as museums and nature centers are available, as are entertainment venues and shopping.

Coming in sixth is Flower Mound, Texas, near Dallas, offering a small-town feel with lots of amenities. It’s near Grapevine Lake, lots of golf, green space and a newly developed downtown district.

At the halfway point, Jupiter, Fla., in the southern part of the state, offers river and ocean activities, golfing, spring training for the MLB and cultural attractions.

Pleasanton, Calif., comes in at No. 4, with great weather and plenty of hiking trails to take advantage of the mild temperatures. The downtown area is equally walkable, and the town always has a family-friendly event on the calendar.

Heading into the Top 3, Naperville, a Chicago suburb, receives attention for its affordability and safety. However, there is a lot to see and do, from concerts to museums, retail to dining.

In second place is Brookline, Mass., with its eight historic districts and proximity to Boston. Head to JFK’s birthplace, the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site or the Larz Anderson Auto Museum.

Lastly, in the top spot is Newport Beach, Calif., claiming the highest honor for its great weather, outdoor amenities, golf, shopping, dining and cultural attractions. The 10 miles of coastline provide great surfing, the revered Pelican Hill Golf Club, high-end shopping and more.
