In today’s fast-paced virtual world, working from anywhere is becoming more commonplace and realistic. One example of the nomadic ability to make money is a new mobile app called Field Agent. The free app allows users to earn $3–8 by completing various tasks in the town or city where the user is based or just visiting.

Users become “agents” simply by downloading the app to their smartphones. The app detects the agent’s location and presents a list of tasks that can be viewed on an in-app map. The various tasks are categorized by type and involve collecting data in a specific location ranging from audio and video data to general opinions.

For example, an agent may be tasked with visiting a shop to take a photo of a merchandise display or taking notes about prices for various products. Other tasks may require an agent to visit a gas station and make notes about the general appearance of the space. Essentially, agents are secret shoppers who can earn money based on their opinions or visual proof. Some tasks are simply surveys that agents can complete from the comfort of their homes.

To maximize the agent’s time, tasks can be filtered by amount of pay or proximity to the agent’s precise location.

Once the task is completed, the agent clicks on the Cash Out button in the app to transfer the earned funds directly into a linked PayPal account. Although Field Agent is not necessarily a cash cow, it can be an easy and fast way to make a few extra bucks on the side. The app is currently available for use in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
