Instagram-worthy and relaxing, Moab Under Canvas finds the perfect balance between luxury and rusticity.

The canvas tents facing the wide-open Utah desert are practically made for Instagram. Views extend into next-door Arches National Park, and impressive clouds sweep over the vast red sand. If ever there were a perfect setting for relaxing and unplugging, this would be it.

Tent options include those with en-suite bathrooms and those without; the cheaper option is to choose a tent with community bathroom access. All come outfitted with modern furniture, comfortable bedding, cozy blankets and a wood-fired stove. Porches look out onto the desert, and tents are spaced well for privacy.

You’ll feel removed but not inconvenienced here. The grounds are within a few minutes’ drive of Arches’ entrance and downtown Moab. Yet, looking out from your tent, you won’t see many — if any — signs of civilization.

Fire pits and outdoor games, as well as complimentary ‘smores kits are on hand and help give the place a community feel. Staff is helpful and welcoming.

You will have to be prepared to unplug, at least to some extent. Tents do not have power (though they do have rechargeable battery packs that offer USB connectivity) and certainly don’t have television. WiFi isn’t available, though cell service is. If you plan to bring and charge larger items, like laptops, the office tent has 24-hour assistance and can charge these devices.
