Must Haves for Staying in a Treehouse

Staying in a treehouse is great fun. Among the trees and off the ground, it takes you straight back to those childhood memories of ghost stories late at night in the treehouse you and your parents made together all those summers ago. Sleeping in a treehouse makes it all the better. You’ll never sleep so well as you did in a treehouse. Call it the fresh air. Maybe it’s the closeness to nature. Whatever it is, there’s something refreshing and therapeutic about it, but you need to be prepared to make the experience worthwhile.

Firstly, you should come prepared. Bring a book of ghost stories. Who sleeps in a tree house without telling ghost stories? As adults, you should take some proper ghost stories. Edgar Allen Poe is perfect for this kind of gathering.

Next, you’ll need something comfortable to sleep on. Camping mattresses are a good idea. These will also insulate you. Obviously, bring a sleeping bag as well. But what many will forget is you’ll need a mosquito net. You’ll ruin the great memories of the night out if you wake up covered in bites, so make sure to get a mosquito net before you make the commitment.

Lastly, you’ll need some snacks. But because staying in a treehouse is a trip down memory lane, you should bring the snacks you loved as a kid. S’mores, hot dogs and marshmallows are all good ideas. Crawl down the rope ladder and build yourself a campfire, roast some s’mores and dogs and tell a passage each from The Raven or The Tell-Tale Heart. Bring a good flashlight too, just to hold under your chin and add to the atmosphere.
