Business travelers are looking for more convenience and luxury when it comes to travel. As more travelers demand “bleisure” trips that mix business and pleasure, they also expect upscale hotel amenities that upgrade their experience and ease on the road. Here are some of the emerging tech trends for 2020.

Smart Rooms

Smart homes aren’t the only spaces getting a tech upgrade. Smart hotel rooms are also emerging as a way to unlock your room, choose your favorite music, adjust the room temperature from your smartphone and more.

Robot Room Service

Business travelers need quick, convenient service to maximize both their work time and downtime. YOTEL’s YO2D2 delivers on demand, like drinks, snacks and forgotten toiletry items. Other hotels are doing away with room service altogether and relying on partnerships with area restaurants or an on-site grab and go. These self-service markets can quickly charge snacks and other items to your room without needing to slow down to wrestle out your wallet.

Book Meeting Space Online

Instead of calling sales managers at every hotel to book meeting and event space, business travelers can look to third-party channels to reserve venues online. Rooms are distributed by sales managers across various websites and apps to save everyone time and resources.

Upgraded WiFi

There was a time it was revolutionary just to have free WiFi in a hotel room, let alone lightning-fast service. Today’s hotels are upgrading to 50 Mbps or higher to attract more business travelers who want to download large files, stream presentations or enjoy faster WiFi service.

Choose Your Room Digitally

Airline business travelers have picked their own seats online for years. Hotel travelers can now do the same with services like Hilton’s digital check-in that allow you to choose a specific room. Pick an option near your meeting space, fitness center or pool, depending on your needs and preferences.

The latest tech won’t necessarily make your work feel like fun on the road. However, it can offer upgrades and luxury touches that make your time away from home a little more pleasant.
