Summer is typically the season when blockbuster movies come out. This summer, enjoy a film under the stars with outdoor movie screenings. Even though drive-in movies sound like a thing of the past, these date night staples are making a comeback with better technology, better food and all your favorite movies.
While some drive-in movies are available, most are car-free and held in parks or large public spaces. Generally, outdoor film events encourage guests to bring a picnic or sell food and drink. Unlike most theatres, it’s easy to have a tasty meal while watching. Pack your favorite snacks for a better-than-home viewing experience.
Be sure to bring blankets, lawn chairs and bug repellent. Unlike traditional movie theaters, most outdoor screenings do not provide seats. Make sure you’re comfortable by packing your own seats.
Overall, outdoor film screenings are more about the experience than getting high-quality movie time. Sound and projection technology has certainly improved since the heyday of the drive-in movie, but talking guests and summer night sounds are unavoidable. Instead of focusing on the details, take in the summer evening, enjoy a picnic and watch a film under the stars.
