LuminAID enjoyed a storied history after its co-founders designed inflatable solar lights that pack flat following the devastating earthquake in Haiti to help in the relief efforts. The two accomplished this as mere graduate students in 2011. Following their various awards, the two were invited on Shark Tank where each of the “sharks” offered to help the two before they finally agreed to go with self-made billionaire and celebrity Mark Cuban.

While LuminAID helped in multiple worldwide disasters, the company has quite the following with the outdoorsperson and travel given the company’s solar charging and flat-packing capability.

The PackLite Max might be one of the company’s crowning achievements. While I, personally, love each of their products, the Max brings just that, the maximum light the company offers for your outdoor needs. While shelter, food and water are surely important, light helps quite a bit when working or playing outside.

The Max reaches a full-charge in 12–14 hours of sun and even charges efficiently in overcast conditions. The 150 lumens provide about 200 square feet of light and lasts more than 10,000 over its life. The company has also added a USB charging capability to the Max, which will see it fully charged in about an hour and a half. A four LED light array will let you know when you’re fully charged.

The adjustable strap allows you to hang the Max from nearly anything or simply illuminate your dinner table in the woods while allowing you to also daisy chain them together for additional lighting needs.
