Visiting a monster-sized national park can seem daunting and overwhelming. With thousands of acres, hundreds of campsites and endless opportunities for Instagram-worthy snaps, where is a traveler to even begin? Yellowstone National Park is aware of this conundrum and thus developed a mobile app to aid their visitors in making the most of their visit.
Although nature encourages the human race to disconnect from media and absorb the stunning surroundings, some find the sheer size of Yellowstone necessitates a bit of electronic guidance. With a mobile app dedicated to orienting guests to the nearest facilities, trips to the park are easier for all.
The mobile app provides interactive maps that show the locations of the nearest campsites, visitor centers, dining options and restroom facilities. For adventurous park visitors, the app also offers a variety of self-guided tours.
The NPS Yellowstone National Park application can be downloaded on all iOS devices, and an Android version is still under development. The major bonus of the app is that it can be used without a data or WiFi connection, the signals of which are lacking in certain areas of the park.
