If you have ever dreamt of having tea and cake among colorful mushrooms and drapery à la Alice in Wonderland, a tiny café in the Eixample neighborhood of Barcelona warrants a visit.
Upon entering the fantasy world, red curtain walls, portraits of dogs in military uniforms and a display case of Pudding’s best cakes and treats appear before you. As you are transported to a world of sweets and magical creatures, peruse Pudding’s menu of brunch favorites, specialty coffees and tea and, of course, desserts.
Toward the back of the café is a set of stairs leading to a children’s play area that also welcomes adults for a spot of tea and cookies beneath the giant spotted mushrooms. If you prefer a more quiet setting for your morning coffee, the front section of Pudding resembles a garden surrounded by a white picket fence, adding a dose of tranquility to an otherwise circus-themed atmosphere.
The friendly staff and even friendlier prices at Pudding Café provide reasons to celebrate with a glass of Catalan cava and a slice of moist carrot cake topped with cream cheese icing. Regardless of your age, Pudding encourages you to awaken your inner child and enjoy a few moments of pre-adulthood bliss.
