Reviews / Restaurant

If you’re looking for somewhere with a great relaxed atmosphere to enjoy margaritas and Mexican, hit up Tio Flores on your next visit to Philly. I recently went here with a large group of friends for happy hour and tacos. They were quick to accommodate us in a large table in the center of the brightly lit and colorful restaurant.

First I ordered a prickly pear margarita, which was great but a little too sweet for my taste. The plain Tio’s margarita was much better. We got chips, salsa and guac for the table, which was delicious. The wait staff was friendly and helpful to our large group and made sure everything ran smoothly, which is always appreciated when you have a big party and separate checks.

During happy hour, Tio Flores serves tacos for $2, so naturally our table ordered lots of tacos. I ordered the Chicken Gringa tacos, which come with chicken tinga, queso fresco, lime crema, lettuce and chile de arbol. I got two; they were the perfect size and portion for what I wanted.

The restaurant is brightly painted everywhere, but my favorite was the entire wall of the bathroom, painted bright pink with a white calavera, or a decorative skull popular in Mexico.
