Show Your Ears Some Love

A single concert can leave your ears ringing in pain, let alone three days at a festival. DJs have long touted the importance of protecting your ears, and fans are starting to follow suit. As more people listen to music on personal devices, the onset of digital music and earbud headphones has also raised awareness about the damage loud music does to one’s ears.

For a long time, people with sensitive ears only had ugly, pharmacy earplugs to use, which didn’t look good in a club. Earlove is changing that with their brand of hi-fi earplugs. The foam version you can find in a local pharmacy will cut down on sound, but not in an acoustically pleasing way. The frequencies are not dampened in an even manner, giving the listener a muffled bathroom sound.

Earlove is made to cut 20 dB across the frequency spectrum, so you’re hearing music as it’s supposed to sound but at a lower volume (but still plenty of bass). The XO version is made to have a low profile that doesn’t stick out of your ears, and there are also accessories like a stylish carrying case and an attachable cord for each plug to prevent losing them.

The company also offers a custom-molded electronic version, made specifically for musicians and DJs who want to protect their hearing but without losing any detail in the sound.
