Tips / Travel

Traveling on your own can be freeing, fun and an amazing adventure, but how to get started? It might seem like a daunting task, but it can be easily accomplished with some planning.

Book Smart

While hotel prices for one can be a bit of a shock to the system, and hostels aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, there are some great budget options for solo travelers. Scour the internet for budget hotel deals and even bundle with your flight, or opt for a private room on Airbnb. Often cheaper than your average hotel room night, you still get the privacy of your own space. Be sure to read the terms of your room forward and backward. As a solo traveler, you want to be 100 percent certain you’re safe, comfortable and it’s the right stay for you.

Tell a Friend

Sure, you want to be off the grid and independent, but still tell a friend or family member where you will be and when. Share your location and check in with family and friends as you go. Don’t let it rule your vacation, but even a general idea of what city you will be in, when and what airline will take you there can be a great relief for loved ones.

Pack Smart

Make copies of your important travel documents and have backup cash stored in a safe place. You never know if you will need a copy of your passport, travel documents and confirmation numbers, so it’s always helpful to have a backup. Send yourself a digital copy and save it as a file on your phone.

Don’t forget to bring travel battery packs for your tech, in the event you need that document and your battery is running low.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
