Most professional photographers are clinging to Nikons and Canons, but a growing number of young shooters are jumping ship and taking advantage of new technologies like Sony’s line of popular cameras. Known for the impressive sensor technology, the company is making a statement with their latest a7 series, which offer mirrorless technology on a full-frame format.

The a7 series unifies the Alpha and NEX brands under a single line that comes in three different models, the a7II, a7SII and a7RII. The a7II is the base model, with the SII and RII being the flagship cameras for videographers and photographers, respectively. All three have full-frame sensors and a new five-axis stabilization system built right into the body. Previously, old and un-stabilized lenses were shaky without a tripod, but now photographers can get crisp images using their hands.

Such a feature greatly expands the range of lenses that can be used with the a7 line. Sony’s e-mount system is still far less popular than Canon and Nikon, but it’s slowly growing and you can still use your other lenses by attaching a variety of compatible adapters.

The latest of the a7 line was released a little less than a year ago, but there are already rumors floating around about the upcoming a9, one of which might have been seen in Battery Park.
