The Spanish Virgin Islands aren’t exactly a place screaming spring break, but the area is a great option for those wanting to get away from studying in an atmosphere that isn’t crawling with drunken frat boys.
It’s famous for yacht lovers, so if you’ve got a little bit of extra money lying around, booking a boat is always a great option. There are plenty of beautiful sights to choose from as you lounge on the waters and soak up the sun. Plus, you can throw your own private party without worrying about crashers.
During the day you can explore the waters through the Blue Caribe Dive Center, which offers both snorkeling and scuba diving trips. They also have nighttime adventures in case you want a peek of the sea after the sun goes down.
On Vieques, the open-air restaurant El Patio is a great place to catch a bite and drinks with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. On Culebra, there’s Mamacita’s or Tina’s to help quench your thirst.
Sure, you aren’t going to have any great stories about the wild parties you experienced on the islands, but if you’re looking for a place to de-stress the Spanish Virgin Islands can’t be beat. Best of all, they’re pretty affordable by Caribbean standards.
