Jamaica’s seaside Sandals resort opened a series of over-water bungalows with glass floors that let guests sleep in luxury right over the water.
The bungalows, located at Sandals South Coast in Whitehouse, Jamaica, include 12 cabins arranged around a wooden dock in a heart formation. They’re designed with palapa-style architecture and modern furnishings.
The bungalows opened Dec. 15, and include soaking tubs for two, an over-water hammock, an outdoor shower and a suspended platform with a swim-up area. Bungalows’ interiors have glass floors that show off the pristine sea below, plus a king-sized bed and a spa-style bathroom. At night, the water is lit up with special lighting under the glass floors. All guests have access to a personal butler service and 24-hour room service.
Guests can also have an over-the-water experience at Latitudes Bar, with its cantilevered hammocks and ocean vistas. The Over-the-Water Wedding Chapel gives a similar experience for anyone looking to get married on the property.
