With the conference championships wrapped up, the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots are set to square off for Super Bowl XLIX, which takes place at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. This is the second year in a row the top seeds from each conference will square off against each other. The Seahawks are also only the second team to play in two consecutive Super Bowls, a feat matched only by the Patriots in 2004 and 2005.
Less than two weeks away, ticket prices online are soaring well into the thousands of dollars according to Tiqiq.com. For the rest of us, NBC will be launching a free 11-hour live stream of Super Bowl Sunday, an unprecedented move that aims to attract new subscribers to their online service. Streaming is restricted to tablets and desktops, as the NFL granted mobile streaming exclusively to Verizon Wireless.
As America’s most widely watched television broadcast, the Super Bowl’s Halftime Show is also the country’s biggest musical performance. Katy Perry is this year’s headliner, who will be joined by Lenny Kravitz. John Legend is set to perform America, The Beatiful and Idina Menzel will perform the National Anthem.
