It is said the Egyptian princess Cleopatra would bathe in wine — the secret to her divine beauty. The creators of the Yunessun Resort had this in mind when they created their ancient-Mediterranean-themed Spa in Hakone, Japan.
Located less than two hours from Tokyo, guests can bathe and swim in a pool of wine filled three times per day. Beside the pool is an enormous three-and-a-half-meter tall bottle that slowly drips wine to the thirsty mouths below. Patrons can fill their glasses right from the source, before it touches the water — eliminating any worries of unsanitary beverages. Owners of the spa claim the wine cleanses the body and can heal damaged skin.
In addition to the wine pool, the spa features sake, green tea and coffee spas, as well as an assortment of regular spas. For those with children, there is Rodeo Mountain, a series of water slides. Admission to the spa is ¥2,900 ($23) for adults. Children can also visit for a price of ¥1600 ($13); however the wine and sake pools are, naturally, off limits.
