April 7 is an unofficial holiday in the United States — National Beer Day! In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Cullen-Harrison Act, effective April 7 of that year, allowing people to buy, sell and drink beer again after 13 years. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Prime Meats, located in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn. Being a chilly, fall day, the coziness and tavern-like atmosphere of the restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. Although, it was a Saturday night and we did not have a reservation, we arrived early enough for them to squeeze us in for an early dinner.
