Blue Zones are locations throughout the world wherein individuals live the longest and the healthiest lives. There are only five places in the world ranked as Blue Zones – Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California. Often, these zones are credited with providing residents the perfect mixture of healthy diet, physical activity and social connections needed to live an extra-long, healthy life.
If you want to channel the benefits of living in a Blue Zone without packing your bags and moving to one of these five spots, you can now do so with a quick visit to Costa Rica. Hotel Nantipa, in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, now offers a Blue Zone Wellness Experience, giving guests a quick hit of the primary pillars of Blue Zone wellness.
While each experience is tailored to guests’ needs, interests and length of stay, guests who book the experience can potentially enjoy a stay in a suite or villa; a wellness program combining journaling, a digital detox and sleep hygiene; customized yoga, meditation and fitness programming; nature excursions every day; healthful, traditional dining; activities within the local community; volunteer opportunities; and turn-down amenities and services like herbal tea and in-room spa services for better sleep.
A three-night Blue Zone Wellness Experience stay for two starts at $3,485.
