Tica Bus offers comfortable, secure transportation throughout Central America, with routes stretching from Panama to the southern states of Mexico.

Although the standard of vehicles is not up to the standard of the bigger companies in South America, Tica Bus is a great option for travelers who want to upgrade from the ubiquitous chicken buses in the region. Although it is possible to navigate the entire length of Central America using the converted U.S. school buses, scheduling and comfort often dictates the Tica Bus is your most reliable option.

For overnight journeys, it is often the only option. Most chicken buses only run short, local routes, so long journeys are the preserve of the Tica Bus. As the countries of Central America are all fairly small, a lot of the routes cross international borders. Traveling on the Tica Bus has the advantage of helpful drivers who will help you to negotiate border crossings and avoid any hassle.

Available routes follow the PanAmerican highway, which links major cities throughout the continent. Two levels of service are offered: Tourist, which makes stops for food, and Executive, on which food and drinks are included in the price, along with the use of a pillow and a blanket.
The difference in terms of comfort is negligible as you can always bring your own warm clothes, but the lack of stops means Executive buses make the journey faster and are arguably more secure.

Tica Bus is the best option for travelers who need to move long distances between the major cities of Central America. On longer journeys, you will be grateful not to be riding a chicken bus.
