Timpik is a website and mobile app that lets you organize and find sporting events and meet up with other athletes. Want a partner to go rock climbing? Looking for one more person for a soccer team or want to join one? Just want to see what sporting events are happening around your city? Timpik is perfect for all of these things and more.
Users can find other like-minded people in 74 different sports and activities, from ultimate Frisbee to basketball to kung fu. They can also select their skill level from first-timer to professional. But there’s no need to worry, meet-ups are usually casual and accepting of all levels. After the meet-up, athletes have the opportunity to vote for MVP, create groups and make friends on the Timpik site.
Users and administrators can flag no-shows, late arrivals and others who do not participate in a friendly, inclusive manner. After a certain number of flags, the user will be suspended. The Timpik team ensures these users will not be able to create new accounts in the future.
The site is free to use. The meet-ups and events may also be free, or there may be a charge to play. The fee will depend on the availability of fields, equipment, and facilities and is set by the activity organizer. Urban meet-ups, for example, where field space is more difficult to find, may incur a higher fee than a meet-up in the suburbs, where field space may be free to use.
Timpik is slowly making its way to the shores of the United States from Europe, where it has quickly become an essential website and app for athletes and anyone looking for an athletic meet-up.
