Sydney is a vast city with no shortage of things to see and do, so it’s understandable if you’re having a hard time deciding what to fit into your schedule. These five sites are things you can’t miss on your trip down under.
The Sydney Opera House
Even if opera isn’t your thing, there’s no denying the unique architecture of the Sydney Opera House is a sight to behold. It stands proudly in Sydney Harbour and is a beacon for ships coming into port. Do yourself a favor and book a tour and learn all about the history of this beautiful structure.
The Queen Victoria Building
Shopping enthusiasts will feel right at home at the Queen Victoria Building. This old-school building with stained-glass windows, spiral staircases and metalwork will transport you back to an era where sophistication and class ruled. It’s a fun, vibrant, Victorian experience in the middle of a city overrun with modern appeal.
The National Maritime Museum
History buffs will have their hands full at the National Maritime Museum. Sydney has always been a bit of a naval and fishing hub in Australia and the harbor-side museum offers great insight into the city’s rich history. Plus, it’s just flat out beautiful to see, especially during the evening when it’s lit up.
SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium
With one of the world’s largest abundances of sea life, you’d be remiss if you didn’t check out the world-famous SEA LIFE Sydney. It features five different ocean habitats, including sharks, reefs, whales and other large fish. This aquarium is fascinating and fun for adults and kids alike.
The Blue Mountains
A 90-minute drive outside town will get you to some of the most spectacular views in Australia. The Blue Mountains get their name from the blue, hazy horizon that surrounds them. Make sure to stop by popular attractions like Three Sisters and Wentworth Falls during your trip.
