Boise is home to a surprisingly vibrant foodie scene for a place known as the most isolated city in America. European, Asian, South American and African flavors are all well represented in Idaho’s capital. Check out these popular spots next time you’re in town.
The rustic, vibrant atmosphere of Bittercreek Alehouse is just one reason why it’s such a local favorite. The menu draws in large crowds every night of the week with delicious lamb burgers and cheese curds and, of course, a large variety of beer.
Tango’s is tucked away in a shopping center on the outskirts of Boise but it’s well worth the trip to taste the scrumptious empanadas. Whether you’re a fan of meat-filled saltenas or dessert-stuffed varieties, there’s certainly something here that’ll whet your appetite.
Chandlers is an upscale joint located in downtown’s Hotel 43 that features some of the city’s finest prime steak and seafood. The fish is flown in directly from Hawai’i and Alaska, but most of the ingredients are grown locally. The nightly jazz music also helps set the mood.
Fork features an exciting, Northwestern menu that sources locally from the region around Boise. On top of that, owners also used recycled materials in the décor in order to maintain a sustainable lifestyle. Some local favorites here include griddled mac ‘n cheese, buttermilk fried chicken and waffles and a bread pudding that’s to die for.
Gangnam is a recent addition to the scene and quickly became a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Flavorful Korean dishes, made from scratch by owners Hee Park and Sukie Cheong, bring a taste of Asia to this Northwestern town. The squid in chili sauce and cucumber kimchi are highlights of the menu.
