Top 5 / North America

The colonial city of Merida is famous for its museums, haciendas and restaurants. Here are five of the best.

Rosa Sur 32

Parque Santa Lucia is surrounded by bars and restaurants, and it can be easy to overlook this small place. However it’s worth finding, as the cuisine is innovative fusion fare that uses incredible ingredients at prices that won’t break the bank — great service and an extensive wine list, too.

La Chaya Maya

Get stuck in to the traditional flavors of the Mayan community at La Chaya Maya. Housed inside a colonial building set around a courtyard, the space is as impressive as the food. Try a Chaya margarita as an aperitif.

Mercado Lucas de Galvez

This buzzing market is home to countless stalls and restaurants where you can enjoy tacos, tortas and other classic Mexican food. Look for the large seating area with Coca Cola-branded tables and chairs; the tortas from the cart next door are incredible.

Eskondida

Pizza is surprisingly good in the Yucatan, and Eskondida lays claim to being the best in Merida. It’s a relaxed place with a good atmosphere, so if you’re looking for comfort food in an informal setting this is the place to be.

El Barrio

A great spot for breakfast and light meals throughout the day, the ingredients are top quality and the staff is friendly.

Stay at Kona Village on the Big Island of Hawai’i and you may think your experience consists solely of private, residential-style luxury and perhaps the occasional fresh pineapple, but Rosewood Resort has something else a little special. More specifically, Kona Village has its very own Mai Tai Mile, where guests can find four unique and different takes on the Mai Tai.
