Top 5 / Europe

The charming Italian city of Perugia is chock full of restaurants. Here are some of the best in the historic center of town.

Reginella Pizzeria
This hole-in-the-wall pizza place is a favorite haunt of students and budget travelers. Queue up for a slice or two and sit on the metal tables outside to soak up the atmosphere.

Il Gufo
This little place is tucked away in an alley and it can be hard to find. Once you’re there you’re sure to enjoy the regional specialties, such as wild boar and Montefalco wines.

Daje
More of a deli than a restaurant, this is nonetheless an amazing place to spend an evening. There are only a handful of tables, so you’ll have to get there early or book ahead, but the meat and cheese platters are delicious. Wash them down with wine from the barrel and you’ve got the perfect combination.

Pinturicchio
Run by an American expat in Perugia, Pinturrichio has fast become a local favorite. It’s the place to be for brunch, which combines U.S. influences with local ingredients. Think ricotta and lemon pancakes with good Italian coffee.

Il Bistrot
In the center of town, Il Bistrot is a popular place to grab a quick lunch. There is a good selection of pasta and main courses, all at an affordable price.
