It’s that time of year when the air becomes cool and crisp and the leaves begin changing. What better way to experience stunning autumn scenery than with a tour of one of our nation’s National Parks? Here are a few of our favorites:
Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park in Maine is famous for its fall foliage. The state’s website even has a foliage tracker, updated weekly during peak season. Mid-October is prime leaf-peeping time.
Grand Teton National Park
Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park boasts a variety of fall colors during the peak foliage season of September through mid-October. There are more than 200 miles of hiking trails for outdoor lovers to explore.
Rocky Mountain National Park
This park in Colorado might be best known for the majestic Rocky Mountain range, but in the fall the entire region comes alive with bright yellow foliage. Visit in September for peak viewing of the golden Aspens.
Shenandoah National Park
Rich red and purple tones abound in Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park. Hike the Appalachian Trail for an up-close foliage experience, or drive the scenic 105-mile stretch of Skyline Drive to cover more ground.
Zion National Park
Utah’s Zion National Park welcomes fall in October and November. The leaves change later in the season, which typically means fewer crowds. Explore the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive for panoramic views.
