Tips / Travel

What better way to kick off the New Year than by traveling to a new destination and celebrating in a different culture? For those who plan to add “travel more” to their list of New Year’s resolutions, the following cities have been trending for the 31st of December, according to Kayak.

Reykjavik, Iceland

This North Atlantic nation seems to be a popular search despite the frigid temperatures and lack of sunlight during the winter. When temperatures drop and skies become dark for most of the day, locals retreat indoors to pubs where heavy alcohol consumption serves as a distraction, thus making Iceland’s capital a worthwhile New Year’s Eve stop.

Sydney, Australia

Travelers who are desperate to escape the cold can consider heading south, very south, into the Southern Hemisphere where summer is alive. Ring in the New Year on an Australian beach and return home with a January tan.

Nashville, Tenn.

Budget travelers who opt to stay stateside will find lots of reasons to celebrate in the musical city of Nashville. Bring out your inner country music star and revel in the Southern hospitality of this vibrant city.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
