Alibi
This award-winning true crime podcast follows the case of a South African man who claims to be innocent of a heinous crime. Journalist Paul McNally and presenter Freddy Mabitsela do their best to figure out the truth. Is Anthony deVries innocent like he claims? Did the police botch this case? Listen to testimonies and McNally and Mabitsela’s own findings in the podcast.
Darknet Diaries
Darknet Diaries is a true crime podcast that follows crimes that happen online, hosted by Jack Rhysider. The episodes are all available on iTunes. Each episode follows a different case with the longer and more detailed cases having two parts. Internet hacking isn’t reported as much as murders, so it’s a way to learn about a different crime.
Someone Knows Something
Someone Knows Something is one of my favorite podcasts. It’s in the same investigation style as Serial, where it tries to uncover new information. I like that they examine older cases and make them relevant by adding new details. It helps get the case back in the public eye with more of a chance to be solved.
In the Dark
This podcast is another one I listen to, because it focuses on how authorities mismanaged a case versus solving the case. Its newest season just began in May, and is easy to binge. The podcast follows the story of Curtis Flowers, tried six times for the same crime. For 21 years, he has won appeals and maintained his innocence, but he’s still on death row.
