Under $100: Lambertville

Situated on the Delaware River, Lambertville, N.J., is home to eclectic shops and cafes. Its close proximity to Philadelphia and New York City makes it the ideal location for a day trip.

Start your day at The Full Moon Café. The breakfast and lunch spot serves dinner only on full moon nights. Check the specials menu for seasonal items. With a variety of omelets, breakfast burritos, Benedicts and other items to choose from, breakfast costs about $15. Stop by Lambertville Trading Company for a cup of coffee and to browse their selection of snacks, mugs, coffee grounds and other goodies. Head to Howell Farm for a look at the inner workings of a farm. The site has been open since the 1730s. Entrance is free and open to the public.

Annie’s Gourmet specializes in perfectly made sandwiches. The Sicilian Porchetta, Beefy Brit and Turkey Delight are standouts. Dine in or grab your sandwich to go and enjoy lunch on the banks of the Delaware River. Basic sandwiches start at $7.25. Lambertville is a walk-able town. Peruse the impressive selection of antiques from more than 45 dealers at The People’s Store. Art enthusiasts, take a stroll along Bridge Street and Union Street to check out the numerous art galleries.

The rustic Lambertville Station is a great spot for a leisurely dinner with a view. The waterfront inn and restaurant overlooks the Delaware River and serves up classic and seasonal fare from local New Jersey farm suppliers and herbs from their own garden.

The ACME Screening Room screens independent and documentary films Friday–Sunday. Check the calendar for upcoming screenings. Tickets cost $8 ($6 for members). Lambertville hosts a fireworks display during the summer months on select Fridays. If you’re visiting on a Friday, be sure to stick around for the spectacular show.
