Under $100: Morristown, N.J.

The suburb of Morristown, N.J., is conveniently located near New York City and about three hours from the shore. But this suburb can be a destination in itself; follow this itinerary to explore the historic town for less than $100.

Start the day with breakfast at the Morristown Pancake House. Order their signature Viva La Revolucion pancakes with fresh strawberries, bananas, pecans and crème fraiche, plus a hot coffee for $12.

Take a tour of the historic Victorian mansion Acorn Hall. Take a docent-led tour of this beautifully preserved home for $6, visit the rotating exhibitions and stop in the Victorian-themed gift shop.

Take in the view from Fort Nonsense. This abandoned fort was once home to General George Washington’s Army and has an easy walking path and great views of downtown Morristown.

Have dessert at the South Street Creamery. This popular ice cream shop serves freshly made crepes and homemade ice cream, sorbet and gelato.
