Tianjin is known for its iconic breakfast. The most popular is the jian bing guo zi, a crepe with fritters. Other well-known dishes are lao dou fu, which translates to old tofu, and guo ba cai, a type of pastry. To find all of these dishes and more head to YangJie JianBingGuoZi. The food is cheap and will cost less than $5.
After breakfast, take the time to walk through Ancient Culture Street. There are many little stores where they are selling modern and traditional Chinese items and offering things people won’t see anywhere else.
For lunch, enjoy some baozi, which translates to buns. Go Believe Bun is a fantastic restaurant to taste this popular food. Buns are inexpensive and easy to make so it will cost less than $5.
Enjoy a walk through the Porcelain House. This historic home turned museum is beautifully decorated and the perfect place to take photos. It’s lined with porcelain vases and interior exhibits of various wooden antiques and mosaic art.
Fried noodles are popular with visitors to the area. They’re served as a bowl of noodles and some sauce, which customers need to mix before eating. This restaurant is the perfect place to order the noodles.
End the night with a ride on the Eye of Tianjin, a 120-meter tall giant Ferris wheel built above the Yongle Bridge, over the Haihe River. Atop the wheel you can get great views of city and reminisce about a day well spent.
