Phone App Lost Missing © Tile

Tile‘s slogan is, “If you’d miss it, Tile it,” which is perfect and true, especially when it comes to travel. When you attach Tile to an item, you’re connecting them both to your phone. Tile works by casting a Bluetooth signal up to 100 feet, and since every phone in the world with Tile helps find your stuff, your search range is potentially limitless. The app supports up to eight Tiles, so everyone’s suitcases and passports can be tethered.

While Tile doesn’t have GPS real-time location information, the app automatically records the last place your phone saw your Tile. When you begin searching for a lost item, your phone tracks the Bluetooth signal strength of your Tile. As you get closer, the app’s tracking circle fills in, giving you a clear indication of your progress. If your Tile is lost, tap the Mark as Lost button to report your lost Tile. Once either you or a Tile community member finds your Tile, you will be notified of the item’s location. As the Bluetooth signal draws you closer, Tile’s distinctive melody will play until your lost item is back in safe hands.

Tile is water resistant, so a spilled drink or a rainy day won’t pose a problem. Its design makes it easy to hook, tape and attach it to anything, and it has a simple and clean look. Every Tile is built to be lost in the most unforgiving of places, so while they’re small, they’re also made from durable materials and designed to withstand whatever the world throws at them.

The quality components will run for a year with zero upkeep and no batteries or charging. After a year, the company can help you recycle your old Tiles and replace them with the latest model. Tile operates on Apple devices using iOS 7 or 8 and Android devices using 4.4 or higher. Each Tile is $25. Learn more at TheTileApp.com.
