UVe is the perfect new tool for germophobes who want to sanitize to their hearts’ content, yet hate using harsh chemicals. While many cleaning supplies include ingredients bad for your skin, lungs, pets and homes, UVe is completely chemical free, killing germs both naturally and effectively.
UVe is self-driving and looks similar to a robotic vacuum. It works on hard surfaces and can handle wets messes with ease, using UV light to kill bacteria and keep it from breeding and multiplying. While UV light has been used for years to sterilize on an industrial level, this is one of the first times the process has been brought into the home, made both easy to use and affordable for average consumers.
UVe learns as it goes. With just a touch of a button, the little machine is on its way around your home. It learns to avoid obstacles and can detect ledges, such as stairs or table edges. Users can place UVe on their countertops to disinfect after cooking without worrying about the machine falling off and breaking. It also instantly shuts down when picked up, a great feature for homes with kids or pets, as the UV light can be harmful to your vision. The UVe is tiny at only about 2.5 inches tall and about 6 inches in diameter. It has a usage life of around 15,000 hours, enough for you to disinfectant your house every day for a decade.
Currently available on Kickstarter, backers can snag one of these handy devices for as little as $100. They’re scheduled to ship later this year, just in time for Christmas.
