Want to explore Denmark, but can’t afford the plane ticket? There are now five virtual reality tours through some of the country’s top sites and museums, thanks to Expedia.
The tours use the technology of Google Streetview to explore Old Town, Horsens State Prison, The National Museum in Copenhagen, the Black Diamond and the home of Hans Christian Andersen. And all of them can be accessed for free.
The tour of Old Town allows visitors to be transported back in time for a chance to learn about a slice of Danish history. The Horsens State Prison was operational for more than 150 years and held some of the country’s worst criminals; it closed its doors in 2006. The National Museum tour allows visitors to peek at the exhibits on the Danish Middle Ages and Renaissance, including sculptures and paintings from that time.
The Black Diamond is the famous royal library, and VR tourists can glimpse the outstanding architecture of the building. And on the Island Fyn, fairy tale writer Hans Christian Anderson’s home is open for visitors; it’s been a museum since 1908.
