This year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Sir Winston Churchill, one of the most revered statesmen in British history. To commemorate hislegacy, The Stafford London, an 18th-century property believed to have been one of Churchill’s favorite establishments, is offering a special for hotel guests.

The Stafford London was also the entry to the Churchill War Rooms, the original Cabinet War Rooms and wartime bunker that sheltered Churchill and the government during the Blitz.

Churchill – A Commemoration at The Stafford London, available through 2015, includes:

  • One-night stay inclusive of breakfast
  • A complimentary bottle of Pol Roger Brut Vintage 2004
  • A hardback copy of The Churchill Factor: How One Man Made History by Boris Johnson
  • Entry for two people to the Churchill War Rooms
  • Chocolate cigar in the room upon arrival
  • 10 percent savings at James J. Fox, the cigar merchant

Each element of the offer is reflective of the man himself. Churchill drank Pol Roger Champagne, and London’s current mayor, Boris Johnson, write the bestseller that chronicles the life of the prime minister. James J. Fox was Churchill’s favorite cigar store from 1900 to 1964.

The Stafford London has other wartime ties, including the iconic American Bar, popular with American servicemen stationed in the city during the Second World War. Today, it features a collection of wartime and American memorabilia. The hotel’s 17th-century wine cellars, boasting 8,000 vintage varieties, were used as an air raid shelter, and contain gas masks, propaganda posters, sandbags, helmets and newspaper headlines untouched since the 1940s.
