Tips / Travel

If the cold weather and long nights are getting you down, head to one of these American destinations. All four are filled with sun and warm temperatures throughout the year.

Phoenix

Feb. Average High: 70.7 degrees

Trade in snowstorms for a dry desert in the middle of winter, where the climate is rather pleasant compared to the scorching summer months. Phoenix gets little rain during the winter and averages 211 days of sun every year, making it a safe destination for a winter escape.

Palm Springs

Feb. Average High: 74.0 degrees

This Southern California city has a hot desert climate with only 4.83 inches of precipitation during the year. Palm Springs might be the destination for experiencing the warm outdoors, with plenty of beautiful mountains and desert landscapes to see.

Orlando

Feb. Average High: 73.9 degrees

If you want a stress-free Disney vacation, winter is the best time to come to Orlando, when you get to enjoy the rides without all the summer tourists crowding the parks. The nights can get chilly, dropping to an average of 52.1 degrees, though Disney and Universal have plenty of indoor attractions to keep you entertained and warm.

Austin

Feb. Average High: 62.0 degrees

This might be the coldest of the destinations but it makes up for it with the sheer amount of things to do. March sees a lot of tourist flooding into the city for SXSW and a number of other festivals, right before it starts to get scorching. Come to Austin in February when the hotels are cheaper.
