So, you’ve decided to dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant. You’ve likely accepted you’re going to pay more than your usual restaurant outing. After all, Michelin stars aren’t easy to come by, and this distinction elevates a restaurant far beyond others.

But are all Michelin-starred restaurants equally expensive? You’d be surprised to find out they actually aren’t.

The cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant in the United States can be found in New York at Aquavit. With a standard tasting menu priced at $175, this two-Michelin-starred restaurant serves up a five-course dinner with Nordic culinary influences, beginning with yellowtail and pear followed by scallop and chestnut.

Le Bernardin, also in New York, is one of the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants in the country. Boasting three stars, a dinner here costs $210 per person. Owned by Maguy Le Coze and Eric Ripert, this seafood restaurant has held its three stars since 2005, with highlights including caviar tartare, seafood truffle pasta and Japanese wagyu.

The other three cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants in the United States are Commis in Oakland, California ($225 per person); The Modern in New York ($225 per person); and Odo in New York ($265 per person).

Willing to fork out a decent amount of money? You can do so at the most expensive Michelin-starred restaurant in the country. At Masa in New York, a standard tasting menu will set you back a whopping $750 per person. The restaurant, with its three stars, was founded in 2004 by Masa Takayama. For an even more intimate experience, you can spend an additional $200 for the Hinoki Counter Experience for an immersive evening with a highly skilled sushi chef.

The two-star Sushi Noz, also in New York, comes in second as the most expensive Michelin-starred restaurant in the United States. Expect to pay $525 per person for a standard tasting menu, which entails a 2.5-hour experience beginning with a series of small plates before moving on to nigiri, miso soup, tamago and dessert.

Rounding out the top five most expensive Michelin-starred restaurants in the country are Single Thread in Healdsburg, California ($495 per person); Benu in San Francisco, California ($420 per person); and Sushi Ginza Onodera in West Hollywood, California ($400 per person).

This research was conducted by Restaurant Furniture, which analyzed the menus of all 45 restaurants in the United States with two or three Michelin stars.
