Tips / Destination

Paris is the dream destination of many a traveler, though, with so much to see and do in the city, it’s difficult to decide where to stay. Each neighborhood offers up its own unique sense of charm and history, but here are a few that stand a notch above the rest.

The Marais

The Marais has a lot going for it; there’s great shopping thanks to numerous boutiques, breathtaking architecture and it’s central to just about everything. It was historically the home of many marginalized community members so it retains an eclectic, culturally rich feel.

St. Germain

St. Germain remains the best place to stay in Left Bank Paris thanks to world-famous restaurants and shops that dot the sidewalks here. It’s also near attractions like Notre Dame and the Musée d’Orsay.

Belleville

The historically working-class neighborhood of Belleville is possibly the best place to go if you want to get a true taste of Parisian life and culture. The conflux of different ethnicities created a haven for artists and musicians, so it’s got a quirky hipster vibe that the French love.

Montmartre

Montmarte gets a bad rap from disgruntled tourists because certain streets are, admittedly, a tad sketchy. However, when you’re on the right path you’ll find delightful boutiques and restaurants with a village-like feel, yet still close enough to get you to the center of the city quickly.
