Health & Wellness

Health and wellness retreats comprise long days filled with yoga, meditation, massages, hiking relaxation and amazing food. Many high-end yoga retreats become popular yogi hotspots causing prices to rise significantly, but luckily there are still some amazing properties off the beaten path and lesser known offering the same great luxurious wellness experience without the cost.

Pleasant Valley Sanctuary in California offers a variety of retreats, but among their most popular are the personal retreats. Ranging from $60–180 a night, yogis can sleep, exercise, meditate and eat well. The nightly rates are all-inclusive and range according to accommodations — tents cost $60, single cabins for $120 and cabins for couples at $180 a night. Begin the day with meditation followed by 90 minutes of yoga. Then guests can enjoy free time by using the facilities, hiking and enjoying tea and snacks. After free time, guests have dinner followed by a spiritual gathering and meditation. The structure is free flowing, so guests can explore at their leisure and mingle with the group, or go off on their own.

Deep in the woods of Texas, Retreat in the Pines is a women’s only stay for yogis of all levels. The Yoga Nurture package costs $389 per person for a three-day retreat. This excursion includes on-site prepared meals, wine, shared accommodations, yoga, tank top or t-shirt and weekend workshops. This trip is a great solo getaway or a girl’s weekend trip of nature and yoga.

There are many other yoga vacation packages available for all yoga levels that are budget friendly; the trick is to look out for less well-known places and read the fine print of what they offer. Many actually offer more perks and amenities than the name-brand stays.
