Cities around North America offer travelers unique festivals to attend this summer. Consider adding these to your list:
The annual flamenco festival runs now through June 17. The National Institute of Flamenco and University of New Mexico host the world’s best flamenco artists during the nine-day festival.
Held each June in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, the quirky festival celebrates southern classics RC Cola and MoonPies. Festival highlights include a parade, contests, games, live performances and the world’s largest MoonPie — big enough to serve 400 people. This year’s event takes place June 17.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s, Summerfest hosts 12 stages of live music with performers across a variety of genres. The festival runs June 22–24, June 29–July 1 and July 6–8.
Toronto Jazz Festival hosts world-class musicians alongside up-and-coming acts. First held in 1987, today, the festival features multiple stages of live music, plus food and beverage options. This year’s festival runs June 23–July 2.
The annual rodeo event in Estes Park, Colorado, began in 1941. Held July 5–10 this year, the festival offers rodeo performances, a parade, live music, Western heritage activities and food.
The Appleton, Wisconsin, music festival aims to make live music accessible to the public, with nearly all performances free of charge. Watch performances by established bands as well as emerging artists, Aug. 3–6.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia. That’s not all: United also plans to increase flights to popular worldwide destinations including Hong Kong (HKG); Seoul (INC), South Korea; and Porto (OPO), Portugal. Following the recent agreement to increase flights between the U.S. and Chinese governments, the airline now adds four weekly flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Shanghai (PVG).

Where can you find the friendliest airport staff? According to Upgraded Points, at Portland International Airport. The travel company’s study focused on the 50 busiest airports, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Upgraded Points then analyzed Google and Yelp reviews for each airport, noting mentions of “friendly” or “rude” staff or TSA. Mentions were compared to the total number of reviews to calculate a ratio of positive to negative interactions, with each airport scored on a scale of 0 to 5 based on the ratio of positive mentions for a possible score of 50.
