Tips / Destination

Barcelona has a sizeable expatriate community, most of whom seek ways to watch their home country’s sports in a public venue. Whether it´s soccer (football), rugby or Australian footy, there is probably a bar somewhere in this sizeable Spanish city that will air your match of choice. Consider the following pubs when a big match is scheduled to play.

The George Payne

This centrally located Irish bar is anything but your small, dark, typical Irish pub. Two levels, two bars and a handful of large television screens show international football (both American and European) and rugby matches around the clock.

Belushi’s

The ground-floor bar is an extension of the hostel that sits above the space. The spacious back room has enough space for rows and rows of seats, all facing a giant screen onto which a projector shows matches from the UK, United States and Australia. Not to mention, their all-day happy hour lasts until 11:00 p.m. Visit the website for the match schedule.

Flaherty’s

Located just off Las Ramblas, Flaherty’s daily schedule of live sports includes everything from rugby to cycling to tennis. A Sunday roast is prepared every week alongside Yorkshire pudding and homemade gravy for a true Irish meal.

Shenanigans

Flaherty’s sister pub is located a few blocks away in the Raval neighborhood and serves up €3 pints of lager and €4 pints of Guinness. Make a point to visit during happy hour when bottles of Estrella (Catalonia’s favorite beer) are only €1.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
