Why Staycations are a Waste of Time

Tips / Travel

Staycations are all the rage these days, especially for people who think they can’t afford a real trip. Honestly, though, they’re kind of a waste of time. Life is short and you need to start living it, so here’s why you should skip the couch and head overseas this year.

Travel Isn’t That Expensive

Despite what you might believe, it’s possible to travel on the cheap. Scope out epic deals by doing research and save on costs by staying in hostels or house-sitting. The closer you travel to home the cheaper the flight, so visit new places in Canada and Mexico if you can’t go further.

Every Day is a “Staycation”

Seriously, you do this every weekend. If you think you’re going to be a bum during that week off from work while staying at home you’re probably kidding yourself. Life will find a way to get in the way, which is exactly why you need to travel to get away from reality.

There’s Nothing New

There’s nothing you could do in your town on a staycation that you couldn’t make work any other time throughout the year. Vacation is a time to explore something new, which you can’t do in your backyard.

Life is Short

The old adage is true and you’ll end up regretting every moment you didn’t go for it while on your deathbed. Spend that extra money to gain a lifetime of great memories. You can’t take it to the grave.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
